The Supplier Food Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for managing and enhancing the food safety and quality performance of suppliers. This role ensures compliance with both internal and external standards, conducts audits, facilitates the onboarding of new suppliers, and collaborates with suppliers and internal business partners to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement in food safety and quality.

This position will be located in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

What you'll do:

Supplier FS&Q Improvement and Optimization

  • Partner with suppliers to ensure compliance with expectations and drive improvements in food safety and quality.
  • Enhance the performance and consistency of raw materials across various applications.
  • Lead the development of supplier food safety and quality processes, including continuous improvement of supplier procedures, internal processes, records, and references.
  • Act as the primary contact for supplier support, performance, and optimization initiatives.

Supplier FS&Q Troubleshooting

  • Lead and coach investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Track out-of-spec raw materials and provide recommendations on their disposition.

Supplier Performance Reporting

  • Monitor, track, and report supplier performance against FSQ expectations and specifications.
  • Develop high-level metrics to demonstrate improvements to various organizational levels.
  • Participate in supplier meetings and provide feedback in coordination with the Supply Chain team.

Auditing and Risk Assessment

  • Evaluate raw material and supplier risk.
  • Conduct virtual and onsite supplier audits to ensure program compliance and effectiveness.
  • Review and monitor procedures for receiving sampling, grading, and testing programs.

Onboarding New Suppliers

  • Participate in the selection, assessment, and onboarding of new materials and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with home office and plant teams to support the onboarding and commercialization of new items and suppliers.

Cross-Functional Participation and Training

  • Foster strong connections between suppliers, supply chain, operations, and other business functions.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts within the department and the broader organization.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Supplier FSQ and Audit Training programs.

Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field
  • 7+ years of Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Proven leadership skills – both direct and indirect. 
  • Proficient auditing skills coupled with food manufacturing experience. 
  • Mid-level understanding in microbiology and food science. 
  • Proficiency working in a variety of software and computer programs.
  • Proven ability to assess risk and make decisions. 
  • GFSI (SQF) and dairy PMO experience preferred.
