THE OPPORTUNITY:
Under the direction of the Real Estate attorneys in our Boston office, this position will assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. This is a hybrid role, 3 days onsite.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
On any given day, you will:
- Order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Prepare and administer contract critical dates and closing checklists.
- Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents.
- Attend to all post-closing requirements, including preparation of closing indices, the preparation and organization of closing binders, and monitoring all post-closing deliveries or requirements.
- Prepare clear and concise correspondence and memorandum.
- Prepare initial draft documents, amendments to agreements or leases and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs and Memos of Lease, for attorney review
- Order UCC lien and other searches.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
- Five years previous experience in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing.
- Title and survey experience preferred.
- Law firm and in-house experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar e-mail/calendar technology.
- Knowledge of relevant databases.
- Strong writing, organizational and communication skills required.
- Extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology.
- Knowledge of formation of entities and review of organizational and authority documents.
- Must possess excellent legal research skills, including knowledge of electronic databases.
