Job Description

The Chief Information Technology Officer, GIDS will be responsible for the development and implementation of the internal and customer facing technology strategy and roadmap that will deliver on the company's strategic commercial priorities. They will be a collaborative and empowering people leader who has a demonstrated track record in developing and harnessing others' potential and have strong strategic skills.

Role Responsibilities: Strategic Technology Management
  • Lead, define, implement and refine the IT strategy and policy across SS&C GIDS Australia.

  • Aligning to the IT strategy evaluate and implement potential emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation.

  • Ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our technology solutions.

  • Implementation of best practices for IT operations and security.

  • Sponsoring complex projects and optimising the use of IT core technology services.

  • Monitor the external environment to identify opportunities for infrastructure development, enhancement, and integrations.

  • Ownership of defining scope of SOW's and driving accountability, governance, and delivery.

  • Ensure the technology landscape is secure, available and optimised to meet customer requirements.

  • Foster a customer-focused technology environment to ensure delivery of products and services that exceed and shape customers' expectations with a focus on profitable growth

Project Delivery

  • Drive major change in technology architecture and infrastructure to achieve improved functionality, quality and cost effectiveness.  Ensure that all technology in the business is fit for purpose and in line with client demands.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable and innovate solutions.

  • Work closely with the internal stakeholders to establish clear project milestones, timelines and resourcing requirements.

  • Ensure effective execution and delivery of client implementations.

Software engineering and client service management

  • Be responsible for engineering group to develop our core registry platforms in line with market expectations and client needs.

  • Lead our testing practices to ensure quality software code output.  Continually drive the improvement of testing methods to automate and become more efficient.

  • Review, design and implement a contemporary SDLC that minimises waste and reduces time to market.

  • Have input into and manage the modernisation of our core record keeping platforms via micro services.

  • Redesign and implement a modern client service management organisation that integrates client implementation, production support and managed services within one go to market team.

Operations

  • Accountable for the governance, design, implementation, management of change, lifecycle, development, and support of core technologies. This includes cloud and on-premise infrastructure, virtualisation, compute, database and storage services backup, recovery, and archiving; network services, and hardware asset management. 

  • Manage multiple client implementations and environments simultaneously ensuring we meet our contracted SLAs.

  • Oversee the delivery of feasibility studies, solution designs, development, testing and implementation for areas of team responsibility.

  • Ensure procedures and controls are utilized to maintain the integrity, resilience and security of systems.

  • Provide solutions and processes to enable and ensure protection of customer data remains a top priority throughout the Enterprise.

  • Own the support processes to deliver efficient and effective operations, including facilitating escalations.

  • Manage technology lifecycle including regular deployment releases, upgrades, and patching activities.

  • Effective leadership of ICT functions and services for a complex organisation with a challenging, time-critical and changeable operational environment.

  • Building understanding and commitment across the team to meet key performance indicators, including indicators that drive the ongoing financial sustainability of the business.

Vendor and Budget Management

  • Direct major IT initiatives/projects so that these are completed to the appropriate quality standards, to budget and within the timescales set and that the IT operational component of the business is operating at/or evolving to a best of breed total cost of ownership (TCO) position.

  • Partner with clients and strategic vendors on IT strategy and solutions.

  • Provide IT leadership with clients, continuously review new industry trends, technologies and SDLC improvements for potential introduction as added value into the Enterprise.

  • Manage outsource, contract and software vendors to ensure they deliver effective IT performance including review of SLA (Service Level Agreements), performance and reporting.

  • Manage vendor relationships and external service providers to deliver high-quality services and performance.

  • Purchasing technology, software, equipment and accessories for business added value and in line with global technology strategies.

  • Manage hardware/software licensing requirements.

Leadership

  • Provide clear decisive leadership and motivation across the technology function, establishing and delivering the enterprise vison and goals.

  • Align technology solutions, processes, resources and capabilities with GIDS, SS&C Enterprise Services and other SS&C Business Units to maximize capabilities, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Build and install an environment, which exemplifies the SS&C and GIDS, vision, purpose and values that guide behaviours and decision-making.

  • Lead and guide employees with a focus on consensus building and empowering them to be successful in serving stakeholders and customers.

  • Accountable for ensuring IT has all the right skills and resource capacity to run the business.

Education and qualification:
  • MBA or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/ Systems, or equivalent experience.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Prior knowledge and skills:
  • Experience in tech leadership, delivering complex projects, preferrable as a CTO.

  • An in-depth knowledge of technology best practice and experience of implementing processes, procedures and standards in a technology role.

  • Proven track record architecting and operating enterprise-scale local and wide-area network technologies, network virtualisation, and software defined network design patterns.

  • Proven track record of developing wealth or asset management platforms, ideally Registry solutions for Superannuation or Managed Funds.

  • Proven experience of change management and delivering major change initiatives in a Technology Organisation.

  • Excellent management and leadership skills, with a proven track record of delivering excellent levels of IT services to large operational functions. (> 1000 operational users).

  • Awareness of the latest available Digital technology to support the operational functions

  • Experience of hosting and delivering a managed services solution is desirable.

  • Knowledge of Cloud and distributed software architecture principles, and expertise on security and technical risk management.

  • Exceptional understanding on the technical operational requirements for a publicly listed digital product organisation.

  • Experience working in matrix-based organisation, in conjunction with experience setting up and running hosted applications.

  • Knowledge of SS&C technologies including Bluedoor, HiTrust and Trust Architect is highly desirable.

  • Experience on modernising technology platforms via micro services.

  • Skill with organisational leadership (managing managers, designing an org chart) and growing talent at senior and leadership levels.

  • Effective problem solver with a customer centric mindset and a strategic thinker to align Engineering efforts to commercial company objectives.

  • Commercial understanding of budgets and business-planning.

  • Previous software development skills including micro services is desirable.
