Overview

The Criminal Intelligence Analyst position at the Vermont Intelligence Center is responsible for research, criminal case support, information collection, analysis, and authoring intelligence products on crime and homeland security topics. The Analyst may also be required to present intelligence briefings to law enforcement, elected officials, and other local, state and federal stakeholders.

This position, Criminal Intelligence Analyst (Job Requisition #51183), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized through 06/30/2027. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Environmental Factors

Significant pressure from deadlines is present due to a high volume of requests from the various stakeholders with the expectations that results are achieved. Additionally, the employee will be exposed to material that is hateful and negative. Duties are performed largely in an office environment but the person may be required to drive to training locations. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher in criminal justice, data analysis, public administration, or related field.

OR

Three (3) years or more of experience in law enforcement, records case management, public safety systems, or public safety research.
 

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher in criminal justice, data analysis, public administration, or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Access
Proficiency with any analytical software.

Special Requirements

Must pass a department conducted background check.
Must pass a federal secret clearance to retain employment. This may take longer than the normal six (6) month probationary period, but employment in this position may be terminated for failure to have the ability to attain the secret clearance.
