Description
The Investment Banking Managing Director is primarily responsible for setting the strategic direction with a specific industry or product area while directing team efforts and analyzing market trends and opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Corporate Finance - pitch and execute all types of transactions at the firm (across all products); primary calling officer responsibilities. Actively pursues business development opportunities and is able to originate client engagements.
- Product Groups - has basic familiarity with and ability to credibly market all of the firm's products and services; identifies market trends within area of product expertise and proactively markets creative and profitable new business ideas, both internally and externally; shares in origination responsibility and proactive support of corporate finance bankers, develops strong relationships in relevant communities (i.e. private investors for private placements, accounting and legal experts for M&A, etc.)
- All Groups - generate profitable revenue, establish meaningful relationships in the VC, investment and corporate community. Provide leadership, professional development and mentoring for junior staff.
- Set strategic direction and develops Stifel market presence in specific industry or product area; develop and direct the efforts of a team by analyzing market trends, opportunities and Stifel's competitive advantages; is able to manage and develop resources necessary to successfully grow a sustainable practice.
- Run a business (people, revenue, managing internal conflicts, etc.).
- Generate high quality lead managed financing, M&A and private equity business.
- Recruiting - takes a lead role in recruiting talent into the firm.
- Possess strong management skills.
- Teamwork and community service (recruiting, reviews, mentoring, identifying initiatives to improve the firm).
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum required: Bachelor's degree in related or applicable field.
- Minimum required: 10+ years investment banking experience, minimum 5 yeas as a calling officer.
LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS
- Minimum required: FINRA Series 7 or 79, FINRA Series 63 and FINRA Series 24
SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Outlook
