Position Summary:
As a growing non-profit, More Than a Phone, is seeking a strong development director. The most immediate needs of this role include strong fundraising skills and marketing experience and ability.

At More Than a Phone, we believe survivors of domestic violence deserve a reliable and safe smartphone. Through our program, we connect survivors to the world around them so they can build a strong foundation to support themselves and their families. Through volunteerism and victim advocacy, our goal is to cultivate community across the US and give survivors more than just a phone.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail oriented, social and energetic. Our expectation is that this person will believe in our mission and forge new relationships to achieve our fundraising targets as well as help us build our image and brand.
Reports to:
Executive Director and Board of Directors; works closely with Program Director.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee fundraising efforts and guide the development team in identifying and
securing diverse revenue streams, including individual donations, corporate
sponsorships, government grants, and foundation support, while establishing clear
KPIs to measure progress and achieve goals.
- Ensure the cultivation and maintenance of strong relationships
with key donors, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders, securing
ongoing financial support for programs and operations
- Plan and implement annual fund giving
- Develop grant processes and procedures to ensure a positive return on investment
(ROI) for More Than a Phone
- Strategically plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns to engage donors,
key stakeholders, and the broader community, fostering meaningful connections
and driving sustained financial support
- Enhance and implement a donor stewardship program that meaningfully
acknowledges contributions and strengthens long-term relationships with
supporters.
- Lead fundraising committee of the board of directors
- Support strategic direction and finance committees of the board of directors
- Attend and report at board meetings
- Secure and manage sponsorship commitments
- Maintain donor network database
- Create social media plan
- Develop and support outreach and media marketing
- Support marketing in key giving guides and magazines
- Expand and maintain Better Together (employee fundraising program) funding
- Support of marketing techniques for Round Room stores participating in Round Up
- Manage e-commerce platform for selling goods to support the program
- Manage volunteer opportunities for donors
- Develop and implement annual educational event, More Than a Statistic
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years development experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or non-profit management, philanthropic studies, business. Required job experience in non-profit work with another bachelor's degree.
- Proven and highly effective written and oral communication skills, with an ability to distill complex information into easy-to-understand messages under pressure.
- Experience producing events
- Ability to work independently, with a commitment to open and honest communication.
- Experience working with boards, preferred.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Commitment to working collaboratively and in partnership with organizational leaders
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience with Microsoft teams and Canva preferred
- Capable of creating a presentation for donors and board of directors
- Able to manage time effectively
- Able to recommend, commit and execute to key performance indicators
