Mekong-Australia Partnership Support Unit (MAP)
The objective of the Mekong-Australia Partnership Support Unit (MAP SU) is to provide efficient and effective support and enabling services, and delivery of selected MAP activities as directed by the Mekong Hub at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand to ensure that Australia is a trusted and reliable partner in supporting a resilient, inclusive and sustainable Mekong subregion. The Support Unit will deliver the Leadership and Skills program and enabling services for the Transnational Crime program. It will also support programming by providing administrative, logistical and/or technical support and assistance in the execution of parts of Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP) such as organising events, conducting training or managing specific components of program delivery.
The Leadership and Skills multi-year program is a strategic, cross-cutting investment designed to deepen Australia's economic and security ties with the Mekong subregion (including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) by facilitating access to Australian education and professional learning, and promotion of knowledge sharing and subregional cooperation. The Leadership and Skills program contributes to MAP portfolio outcomes by supporting diverse Mekong subregion leaders apply their skills and capabilities to contribute to development across MAP thematic areas and pursue joint, inclusive solutions to shared and transboundary challenges. With strategic guidance from the Mekong Hub and the Leadership and Skills Thematic Working Group, the program will deliver scholarships, short courses, masterclasses, regional dialogues, on-award and alumni engagement activities, including alumni grants.
About the role
The Access and Inclusion Coordinator will help develop and apply practical tools and frameworks to promote GEDSI across the full Australia Awards MAP scholarship cycle and short-term training Masterclasses. They will also ensure adherence to DFAT's child protection and PSEAH standards, fostering safe, inclusive, and ethical engagement in all activities and partnerships.
Key responsibilities
- Support GEDSI mainstreaming across activity design, delivery and operations, including Australia Awards MAP scholarship, Masterclass, scholar and alumni engagement, planning and delivery
- Manage the application of equity and inclusion measures, such as the application of equity weightings during selection processes, and monitor effectiveness in promoting inclusion
- Assisting in the design and implementation of targeted activities to address the barriers faced by women, people with disability and other marginalised groups
- Support training and provide guidance and advice to team members on GEDSI concerns relevant to their work
- Contributing to reporting on GEDSI outcomes, including mainstreaming and targeted activities
- Supporting the inclusion of diverse voices, including women, people with disabilities, and marginalised groups, in L&S consultations and programming
Selection criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in international development, social inclusion, gender studies, disability studies, public policy or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience supporting gender equality, disability and/or social inclusion (GEDSI) in an international development, humanitarian, or policy context.
- Proven experience combining formal expertise on gender equality and/or disability mainstreaming with experience in applying these concretely to specific program sectors especially in development programs.
- Proven experience assisting with program implementation, training delivery, or stakeholder engagement in cross-cultural settings.
- Proven experience working with marginalised groups, including women and people with disability
- Knowledge of gender equality and disability training tools and methods and proven experience delivering training on gender-responsive programs
- Experience with supporting mechanisms to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), child protection and other safeguarding issues.
- Experience with DFAT funded programming and DFAT GEDSI policies
- Strong reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills in English required, proficiency in local or regional language (desirable).
- Commitment to advancing gender equality and disability equity and rights
