Tetra Tech is adding an AI Solutions Engineer to our Public Assistance team based in Remote capacity.
Travel Requirement:
This role will require periodic travel, which may include long term deployments for disaster response efforts or other business matters for up to 14 to 21 days at a time.

Your Role:
Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer to design, build, and implement cutting-edge machine learning and agentic AI solutions leveraging OpenAI and Microsoft Azure. This role involves end-to-end development of intelligent solutions to automate decision-making, enhance operational workflows, and scale knowledge across complex environments. While not the core focus, familiarity with emergency management or federal programs such as FEMA Public Assistance is considered a strong asset.
· Architect and implement advanced AI systems using OpenAI models and Azure AI services.
· Develop agentic AI systems capable of reasoning, planning, tool use, and task automation to support internal users and customer-facing operations.
· Apply machine learning techniques—including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning—to solve domain-specific challenges across document intelligence, workflow optimization, and analytics.
· Build secure, scalable pipelines for data ingestion, model training, and deployment, and monitoring in Microsoft Azure.
· Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise platforms (Power BI, SharePoint , Custom Apps, etc.) to augment user productivity and reduce manual processing.
· Lead experimentation and prototyping cycles to validate AI concepts with stakeholders and drive continuous iteration.
· Ensure all solutions meet compliance, security, and ethical AI standards.
· Support user enablement through documentation, training sessions, and technical consultation.
· Develop and refine prompt engineering techniques to enhance model performance.
· Travel may be required.
· Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
· Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
· Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
· Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience delivering AI/ML solutions with a strong focus on OpenAI and Azure AI technologies. Must be able to or have:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related technical field.
· Demonstrated expertise in building agentic AI tools or autonomous agents using OpenAI function calling, vector stores, and toolchains.
· Experience integrating AI into enterprise platforms or business workflows.
· Proficiency in Python and experience with API design, orchestration, and cloud architecture.
· Solid understanding of data governance, security, and responsible AI principles.
· Prior experience with federal grant funding preferred.
· Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Business Administrative background preferred.
· Ability to translate real-world challenges into AI use cases and solutions.
· Ability to create and maintain process automation documentation.
· Must have proficient verbal and written communications skills with the ability to receive and execute instructions.
· Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
· Work attentively with minimal supervision.
· Problem solves issues that arise in day-to-day running of business end user automation processes and provide timely responses and solutions as required.
· Workdays in excess of 8 hours and/or weekend attendance may be required.
· Adaptable to work on many different deliverables and maintain composure and professionalism.
