Your Role:

The Construction Technician for daily inspection and reporting of roadway and bridge construction projects. This opportunity exists in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, including areas bound by Lansing, the Ohio border, I-69, and the eastern Michigan border in the State of Michigan.

  • Maintenance of daily reporting of measurements, calculations and computation of quantities as well as written narratives of work completed
  • Ensuring conformance with contract documents
  • Performance of daily inspection and documentation of construction activities, including those of subcontractor activities
  • Maintaining as constructed drawings
  • Position requires public engagement for access and progress updates
  • Ability to work well with supervision and coworkers, positively contribute to the work environment

 

 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of roadway and bridge construction inspection experience preferred
  • MDOT project experience preferred
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Basic understanding of the purpose of construction drawings and associated contract documents
  • Basic computer skills 
  • This position requires travel from home to work site locations 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require protracted or irregular hours depending on the season. 
  • Traverse over rough terrain and constantly position self to operate miscellaneous survey equipment. 
  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladders. 
  • May be subject to exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions, hazardous materials and chemicals, heavy construction equipment, confined spaces, heights, and air and waterborne pathogens. 
  • May handle and move items up to 50 lbs. for various needs.
