The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Deputy Project Manager/Project Manager to support our expanding energy practice. Our ideal candidate has a strong technical background in siting, permitting, and evaluating environmental impacts for energy projects including solar, wind, battery energy storage, natural gas, and electric transmission. Candidates should have a proven history of winning work and managing complex energy projects from concept through permitting and approval.
This position will be based in Denver, Colorado and will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Tetra Tech's energy business.

Essential Job Functions:
Project & Team Leadership
- Manage and lead energy projects, project teams, and junior staff.
- Support achievement of annual revenue goals and foster client relationships.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and deliverables.
- Oversee energy facility siting/routing, permitting, environmental surveys, resource analysis, agency coordination, and public outreach.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Technical Responsibilities
- Prepare or direct environmental documentation, including impact analyses, technical reports, and permit applications.
- Lead preparation of resource studies (wildlife biology, wetlands, cultural resources) required for energy project permitting.
- Oversee applications to state utility boards and local permitting jurisdictions.
- Provide project representation during agency meetings, planning commission hearings, and public meetings.
- Respond to regulatory data requests and prepare project summaries, descriptions, and presentations.
Regulatory Engagement
- Work effectively with agencies including USACE, USFWS, state agencies, planning departments, and local jurisdictions.
- Interpret federal, state, and local regulations to determine permitting feasibility and requirements.
- Engage regulatory stakeholders and coordinate environmental compliance efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 8–10+ years of directly relevant environmental and permitting experience.
- Strong technical understanding of siting, permitting, and environmental impact evaluation for energy projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience presenting before agencies, planning commissions, and public forums.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to conduct occasional site visits requiring walking on uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, bending, or light lifting (<25 lbs).
- Ability to travel for fieldwork, agency meetings, and project discussions as needed.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions when required.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
- Work will occur in a combination of office, remote, and field environments.
- Field environments may include exposure to weather, wildlife, rugged terrain, and construction activity.
- Office/remote work includes extended periods of sitting, computer use, and virtual meetings.
- Travel within Colorado and surrounding states may be required depending on project needs.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $105,000-$120,000 yearly
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
