We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Studies Engineer proficient in both transient and steady-state studies applicable to high-voltage substations, transmission networks, and distribution networks, for our Mississauga, Ontario office. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee transient and steady-state studies using tools such as ETAP, SKM, PSSE, CDEGS, or PSCAD. Prepare detailed analyses, including load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash, grounding, TOV, Corona, EMF, induction studies, harmonic analysis, and equipment coordination.
  • Develop clear, comprehensive, and professional study reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers to enhance team performance.
  • Review and contribute to proposals, estimates, and deliverables based on client Request for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives regarding cost, quality, and time are met.
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates, including percent completion and Estimated Time to Complete (ETC) estimates.
  • Suggest process improvements and contribute to project close-out reviews.
  • Support business development activities and attend conferences on behalf of Tetra Tech.

Requirements: 

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, including significant experience with electrical studies for high-voltage systems.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada or eligible to register.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing studies for high-voltage substations and transmission/distribution networks.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration, client engagement, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy systems and utility clients is an asset.
  • Experience with HVDC projects is an asset.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States is an asset.

 

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
