We are seeking an Entry-level Environmental Scientist to support our expanding renewable energy practice across New York State and the Northeastern United States. This is a hybrid role, combining office-based tasks with remote work. The selected candidate will participate in renewable energy site development projects, focusing on feasibility studies, permitting, and field investigations related to natural resource conservation.

 

Your Role:

·         Conduct biological and environmental surveys, such as avian surveys, wetland delineations, and reptile, amphibian, and bat surveys, as required by project scopes.

·         Assist with state and local permit applications for renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

·         Collaborate with a nationwide network of biologists working on innovative natural resource solutions for energy development.

·         Prepare technical reports summarizing findings from biological and other environmental surveys.

·         Participate in feasibility studies and site assessments for renewable energy projects, with a focus on natural resource impact.

 

Qualifications:

·         Minimum of an Associate's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

·         1-3 years of professional experience conducting natural resource assessments (T&E species, avian surveys, etc.).

·         Strong technical writing skills, previous experience drafting environmental reports is highly desired.

·         Valid driver's license that meets Tetra Tech's insurance requirements.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience conducting avian surveys for various species within New York or other regions.

·         Background in conducting wildlife surveys such as reptile, amphibian, or bat surveys, especially for special-status species.

·         Experience in wetland or rare plant surveys, using established protocols.

·         Familiarity with field technologies like handheld GPS units or tablets for data collection.

·         Proficiency in using ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Online/Pro Desktop) for data analysis and mapping.

Compensation:

Salary: $58,458 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
