Position Summary:
The Project Manager / Geologist will utilize broad facets of geology, hydrogeology, and environmental science to complete a wide range of projects, including environmental support of oil and gas exploration and production and midstream (pipeline) clients, and environmental investigations for commercial clients, including Phase I and II environmental site assessments. This position will require cross-disciplinary management of permitting projects from time to time. This will require geology, hydrogeology, and regulatory expertise within the Texas and New Mexico oil and gas regulatory frameworks, with detailed knowledge of state and Federal environmental regulations. Preference will be shown to Applicants with strong experience in the Permian and Delaware Basins, regulations pertaining to Texas and NM Regulatory Agencies, and/or strong commercial experience. The preferred Applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of total applicable experience. Additional certifications and training are also desirable (for example, P.G. in Texas or a neighboring state; OSHA HAZWOPER; CPESC, etc.).

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Applicant must be able to manage multiple projects, meet client deadlines, and keep projects within set budgets. This position will also develop the applicant's marketing responsibilities with existing clients and prospective clients as a seller-doer. The Applicant must be able to work as a team and manage staff to meet our client's needs. Other duties may be assigned. The Applicant would need to be able to clearly communicate internally within Tetra Tech and externally with clients and regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related scientific field required.
- At least five years of related experience is required.
- Applicants should have experience providing strong technical support for engineering and environmental projects as described above.
- The applicant will be responsible for managing project staff assigned to projects from the Carlsbad, Houston, Austin, Midland, and other Tetra Tech offices, as needed.
- The Applicant may also assist in annual staff reviews and the hiring process for additional personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER Training strongly desired.
- A Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist licensure is strongly preferred. Tetra Tech will support the pursuit of licensure if currently unlicensed.

Applicant must be able to work in an office environment and also be able to perform field work, when needed. When out of the office, the Applicant would be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The Applicant is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Additional Information
- Employment Type: Full-Time.
- Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday; occasional extended hours or overtime may be required based on business needs.
- Work Location: This position is a hybrid position with WFH and In Office responsibilities. The essential functions of the role are expected to be performed remotely with the occasion trip to the Midland or Carlsbad office possible.
- Reporting: The position will report to the manager located in Austin/Houston, TX.
- Travel Requirements: Travel is expected for this role to support projects in West Texas and New Mexico.
- Additional Notes: This is a hybrid position. Any changes to remote work arrangements will be subject to the company's discretion.
