Position Summary:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer, PE to join our growing team. This position can be based anywhere in the U.S. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, planning, and design for a variety of infrastructure-related civil and hydraulic engineering projects. This role offers world-class technical challenges, opportunities to mentor junior staff, and engagement on high-impact projects across the country and around the globe.

Essential Functions:

Perform computer modeling of hydraulic infrastructure including water distribution systems, pumps, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, open channels, bridges/culverts, drainage, and stormwater design.

Conduct hydraulic calculations to support the design of hydraulic infrastructure.

Prepare technical reports, studies, and design documentation.

Ensure technical accuracy, adherence to engineering standards, and inclusion of appropriate documentation in all deliverables.

Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues, and coordinate across multiple disciplines.

Interpret specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and collaborate with the design team.

Assess engineering problems, recommend practical solutions, and execute work safely, efficiently, and within scope and budget.

Coordinate with design staff for development and infrastructure-related projects

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on hydrology and hydraulics.

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulics software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).

Excellent communication, report writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of ArcGIS, InfoWater, SWMM, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.

Experience with MIKE URBAN and/or MIKE+ software.

Familiarity with grading and drainage design, streets, bridges, pump and system-curve analysis, and dam/reservoir projects.

Prior experience with marketing, proposal writing, and client interface is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform fieldwork and travel periodically (approximately 10–15%).

Must be able to sit, stand, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.

WA Salary: $90,000 - $140,000 dependent on experience.
