We are currently looking to expand our planning and strategy team at Tetra Tech, in our Calgary, AB office. We are seeking a skilled Intermediate Planner to join our Local Government practice. The successful candidate will work with a team of experienced planners, strategists, civil engineers, and technologists that are supported by our geotechnical and environmental specialists, to deliver municipal planning and strategy projects. 

 

The work we do:

  • Land use planning and approvals processes 
  • Plan, policy and bylaw development
  • Municipal and intermunicipal collaboration 
  • Engagement, communications, and facilitation 
  • Local and regional strategic planning 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively managing a wide range of planning assignments including land development, community planning, policy development, and strategic planning.
  • Contributing to the development of municipal planning documents and policies, including Municipal Development Plans, Area Structure Plans, Outline Plans, zoning by-laws, etc.
  • Designing, facilitating, and supporting strategic planning and community engagement sessions.
  • Business development and proposal preparation for planning and multi-disciplinary projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • An accredited degree in Planning or closely related field. A Master's degree is an asset.
  • 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning, intermunicipal or regional planning, land use, or related planning experience.
  • Eligibility for Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation. RPP designation is an asset.
  • Strong understanding and experience working within Alberta's planning framework, the Municipal Government Act, and development approval processes.
  • Experience in public participation. IAP2 training is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in projects that are complex and have long-term impacts.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and build and strengthen relationships with interested parties, clients, contractors, and municipal partners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
