Tetra Tech International Development Europe is Tetra Tech's European business unit focused on International Development. We are based in London with offices in Kenya, Nigeria, Poland, and the Netherlands. Location: London, (Near Kings Cross Station / Coals Drop Yard) 

Flexible working available: We operate a hybrid working policy, with people working from the office two days a week and the rest working from home. People may choose to come in more often.

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.50 hours per week - (Travel to other permanent offices of the business and project locations, including fragile and conflict-affected states, as required)

Job Overview:

We are now offering a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid, demonstrable experience in project management, particularly in Public Financial Management, to join our Governance, Security, and Justice (GSJ) Team. The role will support a growing portfolio of PFM and economic governance programmes in Palestine, Nigeria and Libya, as well as develop new business development opportunities.

This role would suit a mid-career professional with experience in project management and business development, who has previously worked with our key client, the FCDO, and led projects, contributing to complex bids and pursuits. We encourage applicants with extensive networks of potential partners and experts in our geographic and thematic priority areas. There may be future opportunities to spend considerable amounts of time overseas and/ or to relocate to a project location.

Main Duties:

  • Manage and deliver successful projects overseas, with responsibility for ensuring programmes meet our quality standards and are delivered on time, within budget and meet client requirements. This includes overseeing all programme activities and ensuring the meeting of programme objectives/ milestones, as well as programme monitoring and reporting, quality and risk management, financial management, operations and HR, and building strong client/ team/ partner relationships in support of successful delivery. Support Project Directors, who have ultimate responsibility for our projects.
  • Where appropriate, supporting the management of Tetra Tech's in-country office and staff.
  • Leading areas of business development (geography and/ or technical area), including the successful development of pipelines, pursuits and responding to full tenders in collaboration with pursuit/ bid teams.
  • Undertaking technical advisory work on a short-term basis to support project implementation as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining strong networks and relationships with clients, partners and consultants.
  • Line management of individuals and teams, and supporting the professional development of other team members as a senior member of the Governance, Security, and Justice (GSJ) team.

Aptitude and skills:

  • You must have a proven track record that can demonstrate a substantial experience in managing, or supporting the management of, international development projects in similar positions/ technical areas (such as governance, anti-corruption, public financial management, economic reform), preferably with an international development consultancy, in government or with an international NGO.
  • Good understanding of key concepts such as gender, peace and security, stabilisation, institutional reform, organisational development, transparency and accountability; and tools, such as political economy analysis, political settlements analysis and adaptive management
  • Excellent written and fluent spoken English. Knowledge of other languages, particularly French or Arabic, would be an asset.
  • Comfortable working in a multinational, multicultural environment.
  • Highly numerate with experience in project-focused budgeting and financial management, and proficient in Excel.
  • Analytical and have an ability to think strategically, logically, and problem solve individually or as part of a team.
  • A ‘team-player' with strong soft skills able to build strong relationships with team, clients and partners at all levels.
  • Pro-active, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced programme and team environment.
  • Tenacious and resilient, and able to cope well with change and uncertainty.
  • Entrepreneurial and motivated to identify and pursue new opportunities for GSJ.
  • A willingness to travel to other permanent offices of the business and project locations, including fragile and conflict-affected states, as required.

Qualifications:

Degree level educated, preferably with a Master's in a relevant subject (e.g. international development, international relations, economics, politics, history, war studies, conflict/security or equivalent).
