The Program:
Australia Assists is an Australian Government program that deploys skilled humanitarian specialists to support multilateral agencies, governments, civil society and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and conflict. Australia Assists' Goal is to: Save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of conflict, disasters and other humanitarian crises, and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. The program's Objective is: Targeted deployment of humanitarian expertise that meets the priorities and needs of Australia's multilateral, bilateral and civil society partners and advances Australia's international humanitarian priorities.

The Role:
The EPR Supply Chain Officer will support the NDMO in the design and implementation of supply chain/EPR capacity strengthening activities for the Solomon Islands. Based in the NDMO, with support from the WFP Pacific Multi-country office. The EPR Supply Chain Officer's primary responsibilities are to support the Government of Solomon Islands and its partners in emergency preparedness and response, and capacity-strengthening initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Following the outcomes of the 2024 Capacity Needs Mapping and Business Process Mapping exercises, continue engaging with the NDMO to define and implement the recommendations.
- Guide the NDMO in the development, standardization, and implementation of key logistics forms (e.g., Stock Report, Service Request Form, Delivery Notes), and support the training and capability development of NDMO staff and key stakeholders (NGOs, Red Cross, government agencies) on their use.
- Support the NDMO in developing and implementing an Excel-based Consolidated Stock Report template, including setting submission deadlines (e.g., last Friday of each month), establishing communication protocols with stakeholders, and conducting a pilot test with sample stock data to validate functionality.
- Assist the NDMO in optimizing logistics processes and data flows, generating actionable insights from monthly stock consolidations, introducing a unique identifier-based tracking system for submitted forms, and refining workflows based on feedback and performance.
- Lead the planning and execution of a SimEx based on a disaster response scenario to test the effectiveness of the Plan of Action, Stock Report, logistics forms, systems, and workflows.
Selection criteria
- Advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Emergency, and Disaster Management, or other related fields; or a Bachelor's degree in one of the above disciplines with additional years of relevant experience
- 4-6 years of relevant experience and three years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in logistics and/or supply chain operations.
- Experience working with Governments for effective capacity strengthening
- Solid understanding of logistics and supply chain processes in the humanitarian context and Logistics Cluster mechanisms.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programs.
