The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding On-Call Archaeological Field Technicians to support projects in the Intermountain West (WY, CO, ID), Southwest (NM, AZ, TX), and Midwest (IN, IL, KS, OK). This is an hourly, on-call position, and work hours may vary depending on project-specific workload.
Selected applicants will conduct archaeological fieldwork including monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery under the supervision of Field Directors and/or Principal Investigators.

Your Role:
- Conducting archaeological surveys, site recording, post-field documentation, and digital photography.
- Assisting with mapping cultural resources using Trimble GPS units, Arc Collector, and tablets.
- Recording archaeological resources on appropriate state forms and digital platforms.
- Adhering to project safety protocols and cultural resource management (CRM) best practices.
- Supporting data management and analysis post-fieldwork.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology or a closely related field.
- Completion of an archaeology field school.
- Some CRM experience preferred.
- Experience with survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring in the Intermountain West, Southwest, or Midwest.
- Proficiency with Field Maps, ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital data collection methods.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and teamwork.
- Excellent writing and editing skills for completing cultural resource forms.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the designated regions.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork while carrying gear (35+ lbs.) over long distances (up to 10 miles per day) in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
- Familiarity with prehistoric and historic resource identification, flora, fauna, and human remains identification.
- Strong teamwork, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
- Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a 4WD vehicle on backcountry roads.
- First Aid certification (preferred).
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $22.00 - $30.00 hour
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
