Summary: 

Under the direction of the Marketing Manager, the Technical Writer (2-8 years' experience) will support the proposal and statement of qualifications (SOQ) process, including coordinating all key operational areas, preparation, review, and strategic development. The Proposal Writer will work within technical teams to write proposals and support interview presentations, assist winning approaches, and targeting messaging that resonate with the client for each project. 

 

Your Role: 

  • Review RFQs/RFPs and support detailed proposal outlines and production schedules to thoroughly respond to client requirements. 

  • Work with technical staff (project managers) to identify win themes and differentiators. 

  • Research and write firm qualifications content, cover letters, project descriptions, staff biographies, and resumes tailored to each pursuit. 

  • Review and edit technical proposal content, project descriptions, staff biographies, and resumes tailored to each pursuit. 

  • Review and edit technical proposal content to ensure consistency, flow, inclusion of win themes and differentiators, and conformance with RFP selection criteria. 

  • Oversee coordination with corporate departments, including legal, financial, safety, HR, etc. 

  • Coordinate proposal review cycles. 

  • Cross-check proposal submittals with RFP requirements and ensure compliance. 

  • Follow through with proposal print production and shipping. 

  • Assist with developing interview presentations. 

  • Maintain marketing information databases, including resumes, project descriptions, client contact information, and text libraries. 

  • Maintain filing system for master resumes, master project descriptions, and marketing collateral. 

  • Participate in monthly marketing calls and other marketing meetings. 

  • Monitor various websites for RFQs and RFPs. 

  • Attend pre-bid meetings, as necessary. 

  • Assist with proposal post-mortem interviews, as necessary. 

  • Assist with developing other marketing materials, including brochures and other collateral. 

  • Assist with other duties as needed to support the marketing department. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field. 

  • 0 - 8 years of marketing and proposal development experience for engineering firms. 

  • Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently as well as in team environments to effectively meet and stay ahead of multiple deadlines. 

  • Strong writing and editing skills are absolutely necessary for this position—command of English grammar, composition, spelling, proofreading skills, and creative writing. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively guide and motivate proposal teams. 

  • Graphic design experience is a plus.
