 Your Role: 

We are seeking a Professional Engineer, licensed in Missouri and Kansas to serve as a senior technical leader to manage design projects and further develop the skill set of an established team of ten (10) water and wastewater engineers. We are looking for a person who looks for new challenges pertaining to business success. In the role of Senior Design Manager, you will support the regional operations manager by providing technical leadership and staff support for a variety of infrastructure-related projects, primarily involving design of water and wastewater pump stations, treatment facilities/processes for water and wastewater plants, and conveyance systems.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert guidance on the design and implementation of water and wastewater projects.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control review of engineering calculations, technical reports, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Supporting project managers and water/wastewater project design teams, overseeing or directing work and performing inter-discipline coordination.  Serve as PM and engineer of record (as appropriate).
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Actively participate in project pursuits and delivery as a subject matter expert and/or project manager (when appropriate).
  • Provide construction support services including meetings, site visits, etc. as needed. 
  • Meet and correspond with clients. 
  • Support marketing of existing and potential clients and assist in the preparation of proposals. 
  • Actively participate in internal staff and standards development initiatives
  • Promote the Tetra Tech brand through work with professional and community organizations. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil engineering required.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license required in Missouri and Kansas (or able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment).
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering experience as the “Engineer of Record” for related water or wastewater projects. Ability to demonstrate expertise in leading the design for large, complex engineering projects.
  • Experience serving as a leader and mentor to younger engineering staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills and develop effective working relationships with both clients and colleagues.
  • We support flexible work arrangements and hybrid work schedules. Regular presence in our Kansas City office may be required based on business needs.
