Your Role:

Tetra Tech, a leading environmental and management consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, senior-level geologist, environmental scientist, or engineer. The position is part of our Cincinnati office. Remote workers not in the Cincinnati area are also encouraged to apply as well.

The position is responsible for supporting preparation of regulatory decision and implementation documents for decontamination and demolition, remediation, waste disposal, and property transfer projects that are subject to multiple regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and various regulations in the Ohio Administrative Code and Ohio Revised Code.

The successful candidate will have experience developing, preparing, reviewing, and/or evaluating the following:

  • Regulatory decision documents at Department of Energy (DOE) or other federal facilities in compliance with multiple regulatory drivers;
  • Analytical data using spreadsheets and databases;
  • Remediation goals for chemical and radiological environmental media contaminants;
  • Human health and ecological risk assessments under CERCLA;
  • Fate and transport models of contaminants in surface water and groundwater;
  • Conceptual engineering plans for soil and groundwater remediation;
  • Natural and/or cultural resources mitigation techniques or avoidance;
  • Geographical information system (GIS) maps, tables, graphs, charts, and other graphics;
  • Data quality objectives and sampling and analysis plans for soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling; and,
  • Technical report deliverables, including data evaluation, interpretation, and presentation.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of environmental consulting or related experience at US DOE or other similar federal facilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, etc.) and previous experience writing technical and regulatory decision or implementation documents.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills:

  • Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal). 
  • Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. 
  • Must be able to drive and pass a motor vehicle records check. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, Teams) also required.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, experience managing task orders or projects, and the ability to work successfully both independently and in team settings.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Transcripts must be provided upon hire.
  • Professional licenses or certifications, such as Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer, are preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Role responsibilities may require project site visits up to approximately 10%, which may include occasional overnight travel. Site work may be completed outdoors within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions.

Candidate must be able to complete annual medical monitoring program.
