Summary:
Tetra Tech, Inc. has an opening for an entry level Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer that will provide support on projects, plans, conduct environmental field work, and prepares portions of reports.
- This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities.
- Position requires approximately 50 percent field work and/or travel.
- Typical tasks will include field work planning and preparation, site audits, collection and proper documentation of soil and groundwater samples to define the nature and extent of soil and groundwater contamination, drilling (GeoProbe), and monitoring well installation oversight, remedial system operation/maintenance, due diligence, and environmental compliance.
- Responsibilities will also include data entry in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or Access databases, desktop research via internet, and documentation of field activities in letters/reports.
Your Role:
- Perform work in problem-solving situations and find solutions to the problems.
- Work unsupervised as a team member.
- Verbally communicate with people and accurately explain site conditions and site situations.
- Create a work product that is representative of what is required and perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance measures to achieve the required task.
- Conduct groundwater, surface water, air, and/or soil sampling activities.
- Prepare various technical deliverables including reports, letters, proposals, tables, and figures.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree or equivalent in any of the multi-disciplined environmental sciences, geologic sciences, or engineering required.
- Zero to three years of experience in the environmental industry or related environmental consulting experience.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification will be provided.
- Attention to detail and strong written/oral communication skill sets required.
- Should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- AutoCAD and GIS skills a plus.
- Values the importance of compliance with Health and Safety procedures and policies.
- Possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Possesses strong decision-making skills and enjoys working out of the office on a job site.
- Possess practical mechanical ability to adapt to the various challenges presented by field work.
- The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform field work, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and maneuvering of equipment, and perform the field work in a range of weather conditions.
- Be able to travel to project sites, as needed.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
