Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Stormwater Engineer to join our team out of our Research Triangle Park, NC office, supporting impactful projects in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and nationally. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders on diverse assignments, including stormwater management and design, green stormwater infrastructure (GSI), hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis, flood management, community and climate resiliency, and watershed management projects. As a Stormwater Engineer, your primary focus will be to:
- Lead or support municipal stormwater management projects, including flood mitigation, green stormwater infrastructure, climate resiliency, and nutrient pollution reduction.
- Lead the preparation of construction and bid documents, including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications along with support from our team.
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and watershed modeling.
- Lead the analysis and design of stormwater infrastructure through application of quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques.
- Perform technical writing assignments to contribute to project documentation and deliverables, including basis of design memos and modeling reports.
- Assist with quality control and quality assurance reviews.
- Support construction administration and observation by conducting site visits, processing submittals and RFIs, and coordinating with contractors and junior staff.
To be a successful Stormwater Engineer, you'll need to have:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental/civil engineering, landscape architecture, or a related field.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) or Landscape Architect (LA) licensure in North Carolina with 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proven analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through education and professional experience.
- Proficiency in analysis, design, permitting, and construction management of stormwater management projects.
- Experience preparing and delivering client presentations, with a focus on municipal or other public-sector clients.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D including all tasks associated with plan set development, including grading, detail development, and quantity take-offs for construction documents.
- Familiarity with H&H models, such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PC SWMM (knowledge of InfoWorks is a plus.)
- Proficiency in the ESRI ArcGIS platform, preferably ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, and an eagerness to learn additional design and analysis software as needed.
