Director of Imaging Position Summary



The Director serves as Administrative Officer for the Department of Medical Imaging which consists of X-Ray (Radiology), Ultrasound, MRI, Vascular Lab, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Special Procedures, Outpatient Recovery Unit (ORU), and CAT Scan. The Medical Imaging Director oversees Radiologic services performed at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, TidalHealth Nanticoke, and TidalHealth McCready FMF and off-campus locations (Mears Campus and other campuses), assists the Vice President of Ambulatory Services for TidalHealth in long range planning and in the formulation and implementation of administrative policies and procedures, coordinates the relationships between radiology, medical staff and other hospital departments, assures that quality care is administered to all patients. The Director plans, organizes, directs, contributes, and oversees the efficient imaging operational activities of the Health System, with physician partners. Monitors consistency, standardization, and quality across the Health System.



Director of Imaging Position Requirements



Bachelor's Degree required, with major in Radiologic Technology from a school of Radiologic Technology approved by

    • JRC/ERT of the A.M.A.

    • Business or Health Administration degree preferred.

    • Required License and/or Certification

    • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).

    • Certified Radiology Administration (CRA) preferred, through the Radiology Administration Certification Commission

    • (RACC).

    • Must be a certified radiology technologist with the State of Maryland and Delaware.


Experience



    • Minimum of ten years of experience in supervision with three additional years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist.


Mental Demands



    • Responsible for establishing goals and objectives for the Department of Medical Imaging across the Health System, which conform to those established by Board of Trustees and Executive Staff, and reflect philosophy of Medical Staff of the Department.

    • Organizational ability to manage multiple responsibilities and coordinate a variety of patient services within an appropriate time frame.

    • Initiative to develop and implement programs as well as innovative solutions to problems.

    • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, to adequately represent the department.

    • Analysis of changing trends and new technology to make meaningful contribution to short and long range planning.

    • Accumulation of data to demonstrate and justify prediction of patterns of service activity and budget requirements.

    • Maintenance of calm and effective function under stress.

    • Demonstrate attitudes of empathy, patience and compromise.

  • Counseling of personnel to improve performance, encourage motivation and build morale.
