Summary of Job Duties: The RN will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in implementing clinical research in children within the Section of Allergy and Immunology. The RN will be involved in patient consent, data collection, and data management. This position will coordinate projects with, and will supervise the research project work of, the part-time research coordinators who are assigned to clinical research projects in the Section of Allergy and Immunology.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.
Valid RN License.
One (1) year of nursing experience (direct patient care) similar to or related to the position applied for
Basic computer skills.
Responsibilities:
Obtain consent from parents of patients for inclusion in research projects.
Assist with collection of research samples as needed, depending on the study. This may involve assuring that samples (such as blood, urine, or tracheal aspirates) are collected within the proper time frame for the study, processing samples, and shipment of samples to a central laboratory.
Perform data collection and data management duties by completing patient data forms, providing data files for the statisticians, and by storing all data files in locked cabinets and/or in a password-protected database.
Perform overall management of the research study, assuring protection of research subjects, maintenance of research equipment, and acquisition of research samples and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
