Staff Accountant Details
Essential Job Duties:
- Maintains general ledger & reports monthly for all UHS entities.
- Prepares and posts monthly general and standard journal entries for all UHS entities.
- Assists with timely monthly financial statements and comparative reports.
- Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audit.
- Assists in the preparation of Federal form 990 reports to file, federal, state, and other regulatory reports (annual tax returns, 990, 1120, etc.) for all UHS entities.
- Keeps informed of all government and FASB regulations and procedures affecting Hospital finance and accounting procedures.
- Prepares supporting workpapers to substantiate the expense accounts for all UHS entities.
- Assists with W-2 adjustments for calendar year end reporting.
- Analyzes and interprets data to determine trends and significant variances affecting financial and operational management for all UHS entities.
- Reconciles cash accounts.
- Reconciles PR withholding amounts to PR liability accounts on the books.
- Assists with maintaining established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Maintains required records, reports, and files.
- Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc., to keep abreast of the field.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university with a degree in accounting is required.
- Substantial experience using spread sheets and database management.
