Department: Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery

Job Summary:
The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine's mission is to provide outstanding, cutting-edge clinical care, world class research, and state-of-the-art training. The Department is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified otolaryngologist – head & neck surgeon with subspecialty training in rhinology to join the full-time faculty. The expectation is this faculty member will support and excel in all the key mission areas of our academic department: clinical care, education and training, scholarship, and service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Clinical service in the field of rhinology, with the primary location for this position being the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus as well as surrounding community network of care sites.
  • Clinical focus on both inflammatory disease and broad rhinology care as well as endoscopic skull base surgery as part of our comprehensive team.
  • Teaching and mentoring of residents, medical students, and other related trainees, with an expectation of starting a rhinology & skull base surgery fellowship by 2026.
  • Faculty expectation for regular academic, scholarship, and research activities toward academic promotion.
  • Join and contribute to a highly productive group of 3 MDs, 2 PAs, and 1NP dedicated to the subspeciality of rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery with outstanding national and international reputation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:
  • Doctor of Medicine degree
  • Board Certified or Board Qualified in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery
    • If Board Qualified, must receive Board Certification within 2 years of hire.
  • Fellowship trained in Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery
  • Ability to obtain a Colorado medical license
Associate Professor:
  • Doctor of Medicine degree
  • Board Certified in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery
  • Fellowship trained in Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery
  • 4+ years of experience at rank or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain a Colorado medical license
Professor:
  • Doctor of Medicine degree
  • Board Certified in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery
  • Fellowship trained in Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery
  • 7+ years of experience at rank or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain a Colorado medical license
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications are the same for all ranks:
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing a cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary academic rhinology practice
  • Experience or strong interest in endoscopic skull base surgery working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Experience or strong interest in contributing to the department's academic missions of scholarship, research, training, education, and service.

Anticipated Pay Range:
We note that the ranges below reflect the base (fixed) salary ranges in alignment with AAMC Benchmarks by each rank (~25th percentile AAMC). Faculty total compensation, which is variable based on production and academic output, typically ranges between the median and 75th percentile AAMC with opportunity to exceed beyond the 75th.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor: The base salary range for this position has been established at $250,000 - $350,000.

Associate Professor: The salary range for this position has been established at $275,000 - $375,000.

Professor: The salary range for this position has been established at $300,000 - $400,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
