The University of Texas at Dallas, a member of the UT System, announces the availability of a development position with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations for the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS), this position plays a key role in the School's fundraising and alumni engagement efforts, helping to build and execute a robust alumni relations program; assist in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual and major donors; and is the primary point of contact on all BBS development-related activities associated with alumni events.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Dean, Associate Deans, faculty and staff, Advisory Councils, and other development and alumni relations staff.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field and three plus years relevant professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and three or more years of progressively responsible development experience or similar work related experience; expertise in forging strong relations with external constituents as well as with internal constituents (faculty and staff); fundraising experience, particularly in securing gifts and/or working with high net worth individuals; proven ability to plan and implement programs in support of fundraising efforts. Candidates must also possess outstanding speaking, writing, time management skills and incredible attention to detail. The position requires some evening/weekend hours and may require some travel.

- The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations will have a commitment to self-improvement, continuously improve their leadership skills and knowledge through a growth mindset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations to develop and execute short-term and long-term strategies to engage and cultivate alumni and other individuals as donors while implementing new initiatives to engage students and alumni.
- Create and execute fundraising and alumni relations plans to accomplish goals with financial discipline and sustainability.
- Plan, implement, and track the effectiveness of an alumni engagement program.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers.
- Manage the process for communication and marketing pieces, such as gift proposals, stewardship reports and timely donor and/or alumni stories for publication.
- Assist in establishing meetings with individuals, foundations and corporations with the capacity and interest to make a philanthropic commitment in support of BBS.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a pool of individual prospects and document all prospect activity in the University's alumni and donor management database.
- Lead and coordinate the efforts of BBS for the annual Comets Giving Days fundraising.
- Travel as needed throughout North Texas and other regions where large concentrations of alumni are located.
- Represent the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences and UT Dallas in the North Texas community with partner organizations.
- A successful candidate will be results driven and closely track progress through an established set of metrics in alignment with best practices.
- Collaborate with other staff in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations as well as the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, including communications, alumni relations, and corporate and foundation relations, to develop effective approaches to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Additional Information
Remote Work Notice: Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment may be required. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice.
