Job Summary
The Assistant Tennis Coach supports the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a competitive tennis program within the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and NCAA Division II.
This role works in close collaboration with the Head Coach to foster an environment within the UTD Department of Intercollegiate Athletics that reflects the mission of the University of Texas at Dallas. The program is operated in alignment with the mission, policies, bylaws, regulations, and interpretations of the UTD Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the LSC, and NCAA Division II.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree. One (1) year of coaching experience or two (2) years playing experience in the designated sport.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and two years of previous coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, with a knowledge and commitment to NCAA Division II rules.
Candidates with a master's degree and 3-5 years collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I or II level, will receive immediate consideration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the Head Coach in the administrative aspects of the intercollegiate tennis program, including scheduling, recruiting, team and equipment management, budgeting, and the coordination of UTD-identified athletic and sport camps.
- Successfully completes the NCAA Coach's Certification Exam on an annual basis.
- Represents the department and university in a professional and ethical manner.
- Agrees to adhere to the Code of Ethics as outlined by the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas System.
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn and utilize institutional software systems.
- Complies with all applicable State and University policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Additional Information
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record at the time of hire.
Remote Work Notice
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in-office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
