Description

The selected candidate for this key staff position will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of all activities and initiatives related to the BS degree in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The Program Director will:

  • Oversee the student experience from admission through placement.
  • Monitor program quality and implement best practices to ensure compliance with internal academic policies.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and faculty to develop and lead academic initiatives aligned with the school's mission, vision, and priorities.
  • Lead enrollment and ranking improvement campaigns, and enhance the effectiveness of student services and support.
  • Build strategic partnerships with organizations, employers, and industries to strengthen student engagement and learning.

The Program Director must be an effective communicator, capable of working collaboratively with faculty, administrators, students, and external stakeholders, while fostering a collegial and productive environment.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree; Five years experience in a related field of expertise; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

A graduate degree in a related field (e.g., MS in Information Technology, Business Analytics, Computer Science) and/or a graduate degree in higher education (e.g., Ed.D., Ph.D.). Ten years of managerial experience in academic or professional settings, preferably in information technology, analytics, or artificial intelligence.

Degree Program Management (45%)
  • Develop innovative recruiting and orientation plans.
  • Track students' admissions and develop yield strategies to increase enrollment.
  • Attend prospective student events and student orientations.
  • Develop competitive market analysis and program offerings; improve program rankings nationally.
  • Manage AACSB assessment, exit surveys, and prepare related reports.
  • Manage curriculum in consultation with faculty:
    • Identify gaps
    • Enhance existing courses
    • Add new courses or certificates
    • Update academic catalogs
    • Work with the Area Coordinator to develop and manage course scheduling
  • Recruit and interview adjunct faculty to teach courses in the program.
  • Manage program-related conferences, the Industry Advisory Board (IAB), and case competitions.
  • Develop and maintain a social media presence, marketing brochures, orientation materials, info session presentations, and web content to enhance marketability and visibility.
  • Develop programs, activities, and events to engage alumni, such as guest lectures, panel discussions, mentoring, resume reviews, and social events.
Student Services (45%)
  • Advise students from entry to exit, including:
    • Admissions
    • Scholarships
    • Visa inquiries
    • Program planning
    • Mentoring
    • Course selection
    • Prerequisites
    • Grade grievances
    • Appeals
    • Instructor concerns
    • Internships
    • Careers and job placement
  • Collaborate with the Advising Office to resolve student issues.
  • Conduct regular town hall or info sessions to answer students' questions.
  • Measure, track, and provide program reports (e.g., admission, retention, job placements, internship, industry engagement, Dean's meetings) to the department and the Dean's office.
  • Manage student organizations and program ambassadors.
  • Plan and implement mentoring programs for students, including faculty mentoring, peer mentoring, and industry mentoring.
Other Duties (10%)
  • Provide assistance as needed by the department and the Dean's office in duties related to the design and management of program-related initiatives and projects.

Remote Work Notice
A hybrid remote work schedule may be available (currently 1-day remote weekly). Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time.
