Description

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Energy & Sustainability, this position oversees campus engagement and operation initiatives for the Office of Sustainability. The Sustainability Coordinator, in conjunction with Facilities Management, will work collaboratively with faculty, staff and student organizations to encourage and promote sustainable practices on campus to ensure the university meets its sustainability goals and reporting requirements. The coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to integrate sustainability into all aspects of campus life and facilities management, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of experience in Environmental/Sustainability education, outreach or project leadership and working in higher education. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable. Must have and maintain an Texas Driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Education and Experience

USGBC – LEED Green Associate credential or LEED AP

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Facilities Management to develop, implement, and support sustainability programs that improve resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and lower carbon emissions.
  • Coordinate and support campus events and outreach activities, including Earth Week and Campus Sustainability Month.
  • Manage and enhance the Waste Management Program, including recycling, composting, and electronic waste, while identifying opportunities for new initiatives.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze data related to sustainability efforts such as waste diversion, greenhouse gas emissions, and other key metrics for dashboards and reporting.
  • Provide administrative support for the Office of Sustainability, including managing work requests, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and other related tasks.
  • Represent the Facilities Management – Office of Sustainability at campus events, meetings, and committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional sustainability goals.

Work Notice: Work will be performed on site and in-person.
