*At the option of the hiring official, a candidate will be placed in one of the following Database Administrator levels based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and behaviors required.

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Manager, IT Operations, the Database Administrator is responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance, and recovery of the corporate on-premise or cloud-based Oracle database instances. The Database Administrator is also responsible for the planning and implementation of disaster recovery procedures for the corporate Oracle database. Additionally, the Database Administrator is responsible for performing PeopleSoft upgrades to the PeopleSoft Human Resource System and the PeopleSoft Financial System.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs Oracle code installation, product installation, database creation, and configuration to support multiple software systems. Performs Oracle database management, monitoring, and performance tuning. Develops, maintains, and interprets database backup and recovery procedures. Works closely with team members to ensure database operation and integrity. Plans and installs new database releases and associated products and patches, including security patches. Performs system provisioning including allocating compute instances, memory, and storage resources to workloads. Provides management and administration of database users, security, and database storage structures. Provides disaster recovery planning and implementation for Oracle database instances. Performs PeopleSoft administration duties for PeopleTools and application release upgrades for Financials and Human Resources. Assists in cost control management of our database investment through monitoring usage and resource utilization. Deploy and maintain resilient data replication schemes. Constructs well formed, efficient queries, views, and stored procedures to collect and process relevant data. Ethically handles private data. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors required of this position.

Education and Experience:

Database Administrator I - ($75,894 - $116,486): A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Experience with SQL Server administration is a plus. Directly related experience with relational databases and database structure languages may be substituted for education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.

Database Administrator II - ($84,152 - $130,521): A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in database administration, preferably Oracle, is required. PeopleSoft technical administration experience is preferred. Knowledge of Linux, Windows Server Infrastructures, and Unix shell scripting is required. Experience with SQL Server administration is a plus. Directly related experience may be substituted for education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.

Database Administrator III - ($92,816 - $145,479): A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in database administration, preferably Oracle, is required. PeopleSoft technical administration experience is preferred. Knowledge of Linux, Windows Server Infrastructures, and Unix shell scripting is required. Knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Data Guard is preferred. Experience with SQL Server administration is a plus. Directly related experience may be substituted for education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Skills: Requires the ability to work with mathematical concepts related to the job duties.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Requires ability to use applicable computer programming languages related to enterprise business systems; ability to proficiently operate personal computers using Microsoft Office Suite.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This position requires a current driver's license.

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: This job may require a work schedule in excess of a 40-hour week and travel on short notice.
