Employment Status: Full-Time  Working Hours: 40  hours a week ( 80 hours per pay period) Shift: 1st shift  Monday: 6AM - 4PM Tuesday: 8AM - 2PM Wednesday: 6AM - 2PM Thursday: 8AM - 6PM Friday: 6AM - Noon  Position Reports to: Practice Manager                     Job Summary: 

Under the direction and supervision of the Physician, and/or other designated clinical leadership, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care within the scope of Licensed Practical Nursing practice in the Employer Direct Clinic setting.

The LPN/CMA is responsible for supporting the overall daily operation of the clinic and is expected to function as both a clinical and operational team member. Responsibilities include patient care, patient registration, clinical support, occupational health services, clerical duties, communication with patients and employer partners, maintaining supplies, and supporting an efficient patient experience.

The LPN/CMA is expected to demonstrate professionalism, accountability, teamwork, dependability, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care while supporting the goals and expectations of Wilson Health and its Employer Direct Clinic partners.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Provides nursing care to patients presenting for illness, injury, physical examinations, occupational health services, and other services provided within the Employer Direct Clinic.
  •  Maintains clerical duties to office, provider, and patients.
  •  Performs nursing services and clinical support as required at the clinic and/or designated worksite.
  •  Obtains and documents patient histories, vital signs, screenings, and other clinical information as appropriate to the patient's needs and within the LPN's/CMA's scope of practice.
  • Assists providers with examinations, procedures, occupational health services, and patient care needs.
  • Performs drug screen testing in accordance with Wilson Health policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirement
  •  Provides patient education and reinforces provider instructions as appropriate.
  • Recognizes changes in a patient's condition and promptly communicates concerns to the appropriate provider or clinical leader.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and all applicable Wilson Health policies and procedures. Provides professional and compassionate patient care while maintaining a positive patient experience.
Patient Registration and Clerical Responsibilities
  • Registers patients accurately and efficiently upon arrival, including verifying demographic, insurance, employer, and other required information.
  •  Answers incoming telephone calls professionally and directs calls or messages to the appropriate individual or department.
  •  Responds to patient, employer, and clinic communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs faxing, scanning, filing, copying, and other clerical duties necessary for daily clinic operations.
  • Assists with processing medical records, forms, referrals, authorizations, employer paperwork, and other required documentation.
  • Supports scheduling and appointment-related activities as assigned.
  • Assists with other front-office responsibilities when needed to maintain appropriate clinic flow and patient service.​
Employer Direct Clinic Responsibilities
  • Maintains professional communication and positive working relationships with employer partners and their designated contacts.
  • Maintains contact with employer representatives regarding patient follow-up information and services, while maintaining patient confidentiality and following applicable policies.
  • Supports occupational health services provided to employer partners, including physical examinations, drug screens, work-related injuries, screenings, and other services within the clinic's scope.
  • Understands the unique needs and expectations of the Employer Direct Clinic population and provides service consistent with those expectations.
  • Represents Wilson Health and the Employer Direct Clinic professionally when interacting with patients, employers, coworkers, and community partners.
Clinic Operations and Inventory
  • Maintains awareness of clinic supply levels and ensures necessary clinical, office, and patient-care supplies are available.
  •  Monitors inventory on an ongoing basis and proactively identifies low or potentially depleted supplies.
  • Notifies the Team Lead and/or Practice Manager in a timely manner when supplies are low or when additional supplies need to be ordered.
  • Identifies equipment, facility, workflow, technology, or operational concerns and reports them promptly to the Practice Manager or designated leader.
  • Communicates any barriers that may affect patient care, clinic operations, staffing, or the patient experience in a timely manner.
Communication, Teamwork, and Accountability
  • Recognizes job responsibilities and works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, Practice Manager, Team Leads, and other Wilson Health departments to maintain a cooperative team environment.
  • Demonstrates effective, respectful, and professional communication with coworkers, patients, providers, employer representatives, and leadership.
  • Reports concerns, incidents, patient issues, operational problems, or other matters requiring leadership awareness to the Practice Manager in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities without requiring continual direction.
  • Remains flexible and adapts to changing clinic needs, workflows, staffing requirements, and employer expectations.
Attendance and Punctuality
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position and are critical to the successful operation of the Employer Direct Clinic.
  •  Reports to work on time and is prepared to begin assigned duties at the scheduled start of the shift.
  • Understands that reliable attendance is necessary to ensure appropriate clinic coverage, maintain patient access, support coworkers, and meet employer partner expectations.
  •  Follows Wilson Health attendance and call-off procedures and communicates any anticipated absence or tardiness according to established expectations.
  • Demonstrates dependability and accountability in maintaining assigned work schedules.
  • Consistently meets attendance and punctuality expectations as an essential component of successful performance in the role.
Other Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and licensure.
  • Participates in required training, meetings, competencies, and educational activities.
  • Maintains required licensure, certifications, and competencies.
  • Follows all Wilson Health policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, infection prevention standards, safety standards, and Employer Direct Clinic expectations.
Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification, as applicable, in the State of Ohio.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred. Experience in occupational health, urgent care, ambulatory care, or employer-based healthcare is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate, and appropriate patient care within the LPN or CMA scope of practice and applicable professional standards.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, coworkers, providers, employer representatives, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical and administrative documentation.
  • Ability to effectively perform both clinical and clerical responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and service.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage multiple tasks, and meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrates reliability, accountability, flexibility, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Basic computer proficiency with the ability to learn and effectively utilize electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) - EPIC, scheduling systems, and other technology required for the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to protect patient privacy and confidentiality and consistently comply with HIPAA and applicable organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to identify clinical or operational concerns and proactively communicate issues, changes, or needs to the appropriate leader or provider.
