Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides occupational health services at the client's onsite medical clinic Radford, VA in accordance with LPN scope of practice, WorkCare clinical protocols, and state practice acts. The LPN delivers delegated nursing care including first aid, episodic care, medical surveillance support, return‑to‑work assistance, and injury/illness support under the direction of the WorkCare Consulting Medical Director (CMD), onsite PA/NP, onsite Registered Nurse (RN), and WorkCare clinical leadership.
This role requires a professional, patient‑centered approach while supporting clinic operations, workplace safety initiatives, and client needs.
Schedule: Saturday & Sunday 6:00am - 6:00pm (24 hrs./week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Care & First Aid
- Provide first aid and basic nursing care for occupational injuries and illnesses within LPN/LVN scope.
- Deliver episodic care for minor medical concerns using WorkCare guidelines and under CMD/RN direction.
- Provide rapid first aid and emergency support during clinic hours within licensure limitations.
- Follow evidence‑based nursing practice to support health promotion and injury prevention.
- Assist employees with pain‑management education and prevention strategies under PA/NP/RN/CMD guidance.
- Provide pre‑packaged OTC medications as appropriate and allowed by state regulations.
Return‑to‑Work & Case Support
- Assist with return‑to‑work evaluations, fitness‑for‑duty procedures, and transitional duty planning as delegated.
- Support injury prevention through education and ergonomic initiatives as allowed by licensure.
- Contribute information for incident reports and injury tracking.
Medical Surveillance & Regulatory Testing
- Support medical surveillance programs including:
- Audiometry
- Vision testing
- Pulmonary function testing
- Respirator fit testing
- DOT‑related testing (as trained and permitted)
- Assist with immunizations and clinical testing as allowed by state LPN/LVN regulations.
Emergency Response & Safety
- Participate in emergency response team activities, drills, and training within LPN capabilities.
- Collaborate with EH&S, security, HR, and other site personnel per WorkCare Communication Policy.
Clinic Operations & Administration
- Accurately document all encounters in the EMR or other charting systems.
- Uphold HIPAA, WorkCare confidentiality policies, and state regulatory requirements.
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs and support clinic data entry processes.
- Maintain medical records, clinic documentation, and encounter logs.
- Order and maintain medical supplies, medications, and equipment to ensure clinic readiness.
- Support general clinic operations including phones, mail, filing, chart management, and clinic flow.
- Assist with developing workflows, protocols, and administrative health tasks in collaboration with WorkCare leadership and the CMD.
- Maintain regular communication with the CMD, PA/NP, RN, and WorkCare leadership regarding clinic operations and client needs.
- Report to client and WorkCare management as required.
- Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a valid LPN license in the state of Virginia
- Current BLS certification required
- 2–3 years of urgent care, emergency department, or occupational health experience required
- Experience with EMR systems and basic office software applications preferred

Site-Specific Compliance Requirements
- Must meet all site access, security, safety, and contractor onboarding requirements.
- Must complete required background screening, safety orientation, badge requirements, and identification verification.
- Must comply with all site safety, health, environmental, and security protocols while working onsite.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged sitting and computer use.
- Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Daily walk required between parking area and clinic.
- Ability to work under stress and maintain focus in a clinical environment.
Work Environment
- Primarily indoor, office/clinic environment.
- Moderate noise level; controlled temperature and air quality.
This position has an hourly pay range of $33 - $36 per hour. Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
