Job Summary  

We are looking for a full-time Occupational Health Nurse to support our onsite clinic efforts in Iron Station, NC.  

The Onsite Clinic Nurse at Timken Iron Station Plant in North Carolina will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to plant employees. The primary focus will be on delivering occupational health care, wellness initiatives, and managing workplace injuries. The nurse will play a key role in promoting employee health, safety, and well-being by collaborating with the HR team, safety personnel, and external healthcare providers. This position reports directly to the Human Resources department and works closely with the plant's management and safety teams. 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 2:30pm or 7:30am - 3:30pm. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Occupational Health Services: 

    • Provide first aid and medical care for work-related injuries and illnesses. 

    • Conduct assessments, treatment, and follow-up for minor injuries and illnesses. 

    • Administer medication as required and monitor employee recovery. 

    • Coordinate care and referrals with external healthcare providers when necessary. 

    • Maintain medical records in compliance with company and regulatory standards (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.). 

    • Assist with worker's compensation claims, documentation, and follow-up care coordination. 

  • Health & Wellness Programs: 

    • ​​​​​​​Implement and support health and wellness initiatives such as vaccinations, screenings, health education, and preventive care programs. 

    • Conduct routine health assessments, screenings (e.g., hearing, vision), and wellness checks for employees. 

    • Educate employees on personal health management and preventive care strategies. 

    • Provide mental health support and direct employees to appropriate resources when needed. 

  • Benefits Management: 

    • ​​​​​​​Oversee the administration of Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims, working with HR to ensure proper documentation and employee communication. 

    • Manage Workers' Compensation claims, ensuring proper reporting, follow-up, and coordination of return-to-work programs. 

    • Administer Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) processes, including tracking of leave time, coordinating with employees, and overseeing the Paid Parental Leave program. 

    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to these programs, as well as alignment with Timken's policies. 

  • Compliance and Safety: 

    • ​​​​​​​Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards. 

    • Collaborate with the Safety and HR teams to promote a safe and healthy work environment. 

    • Assist with workplace ergonomics, safety audits, and injury prevention strategies. 

    • Support the plant's risk management and return-to-work programs by assessing employees' ability to perform their duties after an illness or injury. 

  • Emergency Preparedness: 

    • ​​​​​​​Act as the first responder to onsite medical emergencies. 

    • Maintain emergency response equipment and supplies (AEDs, first aid kits, etc.). 

    • Assist in training employees in CPR, first aid, and emergency procedures. 

  • Administrative Duties: 

    • ​​​​​​​Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation. 

    • Prepare reports on health trends, injury incidents, and clinic usage for management review. 

    • Manage medical supply inventory and equipment. 

    • Participate in safety meetings, health fairs, and employee orientations.



Qualifications

Education & Experience 

  • Must be Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure in North Carolina. 

  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) is preferred, but not required.  

  • CPR and First Aid certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.  

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in an occupational or industrial setting.  

  • Experience in emergency care, case management, or workers' compensation is desirable. 

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety, and ergonomics is a plus.  

  • Experience with medical record documentation (paper charts).

Computer Skills 

  • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed. 

 

Physical Demands 

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk. 

  • Some bending and stretching could be required. 

  • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required. 

  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard. 

  • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch. 

  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds and climb stairs 

 

Work Environment 

  • Mainly indoor, office environment conditions. 

  • May involve exposure to industrial manufacturing environments, including noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.  

 

Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
