Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Manager of Benefits to lead the design, implementation, and administration of our Defined Contribution (DC) and Defined Benefit (DB) retirement plans. This pivotal role requires a leader with deep expertise in retirement plan regulations, governance, and employee communications. Reporting to the Corporate Benefits Director, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and legal advisors to ensure compliance, optimize plan performance, and deliver an exceptional retirement experience for our employees.
Qualified candidates for this role will have at least 7 years of progressive experience in benefits with specific responsibility with retirement programs, and at least 3 years of experience leading a team of direct reports, and a Bachelors or higher degree.
This position is required to be based out of our corporate offices in Reading, PA embedded with our Total Rewards team and other HR Leaders. Relocation assistance will be considered for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Administration and Governance: Oversee the end-to-end management of DC and DB retirement plans, ensuring full compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other relevant regulations.
• Strategic Plan Development: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance plan design, increase participation, and optimize costs across a large, decentralized workforce.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to align retirement benefits with organizational goals and compensation strategies.
• Vendor and Partner Management: Manage relationships with actuaries, consultants, recordkeepers, legal counsel, and auditors to ensure accurate plan administration and compliance.
• Fiduciary Oversight: Provide fiduciary oversight, monitor plan performance, and coordinate audit and compliance activities.
• Market Analysis and Innovation: Analyze market trends, benchmark retirement offerings, and recommend innovative plan enhancements aligned with business goals.
• Employee Engagement: Drive communication and education programs to enhance employee understanding and engagement with retirement offerings.
• Team Development: Mentor and develop a team of benefits professionals supporting retirement plans.
• Other Projects: As assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CEBS, CFA, CPA) preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits, with responsibility for retirement plan administration and strategy.
• At least 3 years of previous experience leading a team of direct reports is required.
• In-depth knowledge of DC and DB plans, including plan design, regulatory compliance, fiduciary duties, and participant communications.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
• Strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
• Familiarity with benefits technology platforms and reporting tools.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
