Summary:

The Tenant Support Specialist will provide casework to tenants/lessees encountering trauma or challenges impacting their ability to maintain their rental agreement or residential leases, in compliance with Comprehensive Housing Division rules and regulation. This position will work with other staff or agencies to help tenants/lessees make decisions geared toward and promoting healthy household living, through counseling, education or other support mechanisms. 


Responsibilities:

* Manage active caseload of all high-risk tenants/lessees as assigned.
* Perform direct case management to include: case plans, home visits, family assessment, intervention, mediation, short term counseling, referrals, stipulations, payback agreements, and follow up services for high risk tenants/lessees residing in the rental and homeowner programs.
* Report all suspected or known abuse/neglect of tenants/Lessees or within tenant households.
* Work collaboratively to contribute input in determinations of tenant warning letters notices, terminations, and other matters placing a tenant/lessee at risk.
* Maintain accurate and current case files.
* Work closely with Resident Services staff and Sr. Residential Leasing Specialist in documenting tenant/lessee referral updates, efforts, and outcomes to support tenant/lessee file activity, that may become a variable vital in Tribal Judiciary Hearings.
* Assist Resident Services and Sr. Residential Leasing Specialist with posting of noncompliance warnings and notices.
* Provide reports to Area Manager upon request.
* Participate in department staff meetings.
* Provide excellent customer service at all times to include but not limited to, addressing customer and employee needs courteously and promptly.
* Adhere to all department rules, policies, procedures and regulations within Comprehensive Housing Division.
* Maintain strict departmental security, confidentiality, and quality to meet professional standards of the department and integrity of tenant cases
* Adhere to all Oneida Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures

Skills:

Essential:
* Obtain additional education and training
* Organizational management. This requires the incumbent to plan, organize and schedule priorities efficiently and effectively, meet strict deadlines and successfully cope with challenging situations and conditions
* Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other employees, staff, and the OHA Board of Commissioners
* Knowledge of or willing to learn about the Oneida history and culture
* Knowledge of the functions and structure of the Oneida Nation as well as available resources
* Ability to inform and communicate verbally and in writing in diverse and challenging situations with the ability to process information effectively, identify and define problems and make objective decisions.
* Interpersonal relations. This will require an individual to be able to deal with the general public and the Oneida Nation community with tact, courtesy, respect objectivity and maturity
* Ability to be dependable and conscientious; possess initiative, self-motivated and capable of working independently

* Associates Degree in Social Work

* Social Work counselor licensed by state of Wisconsin
* Child Abuse Reporting Policy (CARP)

Credential equivalent experience:

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
